Rehins National School is incredibly proud to have three Autism Classes that provide a nurturing and inclusive learning environment for autistic children. The unit currently comprises three autism-specific classes, where children are given the opportunity to develop at their own pace in a supportive and suitable setting.

The school implements a wide range of teaching strategies tailored to meet the diverse needs of autistic children. These strategies include TEACCH (Treatment and Education of Autistic and related Communication-handicapped Children), PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System), Floortime, Social Stories, and elements of Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA). Intensive Interaction techniques are also used to build meaningful communication and relationships with the children. In addition to academic approaches, the school incorporates practical and sensory activities such as gardening and cooking to promote life skills and sensory regulation.

Rehins National School is equipped with facilities that ensure the comfort and well-being of its students. Each autism classroom has been specially designed to create a calm and supportive environment, featuring dim lighting and minimal distractions. Additionally, each classroom includes a quiet room where children can retreat if they feel overwhelmed or need time to self-regulate.

The school also boasts an OT (Occupational Therapy) room to support sensory and motor development, a general purpose room for group activities, a fully equipped kitchen for practical life skills, and a nurture room where children can relax, engage in social-emotional learning, or receive additional support.

Through its autism-specific programs, carefully designed spaces, and holistic approach, Rehins National School ensures that every child has the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive in an environment that respects their individual strengths and needs.
